How Hyundai Digital Key 2 Works
Hyundai Digital Key 2 works by turning any compatible smartphone or smartwatch into your Hyundai's physical key.
Using Near Field Communication (NFC) and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, Hyundai Digital Key 2 allows owners to lock, unlock, and start their Hyundai simply by being in close proximity of around 5 feet to their car or more, depending on the signal used, without needing to take their device from their pocket or bag.
How to Get Hyundai Digital Key 2
No rocket science is required to start with Hyundai Digital Key 2. Firstly, your Hyundai must be a compatible model, and you must have an active Bluelink account.
Simply turn your Hyundai on with your physical smart key, then open the MyHyundai app and navigate to the Digital Key menu. By following the on-screen prompts, owners can pair their device and add the key to their phone's digital wallet.
Access Levels (Unlock and Drive, Unlock Only, Valet)
Owners can share access to their Hyundai with up to 15 other devices/people directly through their smartphone's digital wallet.
Now, the great thing about Hyundai Digital Key 2 is that it allows owners to assign three specific permission levels: Unlock and Drive, Unlock Only, and Valet, based on who they are sharing their Hyundai with.
Unlock and Drive allows full access to lock/unlock your Hyundai and start the engine, which is ideal for family members or even close friends who like to borrow your car.
Unlock Only is great for safety when allowing your children to climb into the car while you are still busy getting ready for the morning school drop-off run, so they don't accidentally drive off without you.
The Valet access permission is convenient for valet drivers or mechanics to lock and unlock the car. Once parked, there is no access to the trunk, and your Hyundai cannot be driven any further without the physical smart key being close by.
Compatible Devices
As mentioned, your device needs to be compatible with Hyundai Digital Key 2. Apple iPhone 11 and newer, select Samsung S models, Google Pixel 6 and newer smartphones, and compatible Apple Watches can allow you to add your digital key directly to your compatible device's native digital wallet.
